Watch Description

Adverts from 1937 indicate this is a Minuteman curvex model. I think this may also be original metal band as adverts show identical type of metal bracelet.

Edit: Manufacture Year changed to 1938 based on Case Serial Number

Does any one have a facated crystal for the shadow dial AA model ZZ.  I have been searching high and low for one for some time now and come up with nothing. I have the original crystal but it is not capable of being cleaned up, too many scratches and nicks. Please PM me if you have any info on where to acquire one. The diminsions of the original are:  17.53mm wide x 21.60mm long.

24 hour Model ID

Submitted by 24HourDials on

Greetings all!

As my handle suggests I happen to collect watches of the 'purist' 24-hour variety, I was able to obtain this particular one not long ago, and was not able to find much information other than it was manufactured in 1960 (code M0.)  It has run flawlessly thus far, keeping very good time, and the hacking feature still works. I have not attempted to remove the case back to identify the movement (yet) as the facets for doing so appear to have been chewed up in places; I do not wish to add to the damage. It will obviously require some work.

Hello,

I am work on a 10AE and replaced the mainspring with a new one. When I wound the watch the mainspring end slips off the arbor. I tried bending the end a little tighter two different times and still slips. Any suggestions or should I punt and get another spring. The broken spring was steel and new one is alloy, I don't know of that makes a difference. It is a Bulova spring came in the cool holder. Thanks

Watch Description

1941 Bulova Unknown 17J 8AE with an Asterisk date stamp, mint Copper & Gold 2-tone Roman Numeral dial with Black highlites, & Blued Diamond style hands. The 14K Pink Gold filled hidden lug case is stamped Bulova on the inside of the caseback, and measures 31.3mm lug to lug, and 21mm wide. It is fitted with a new 16mm Burgandy leather strap with a Gold buckle. The crystal pictured is the closest size I could find to fit it, and had to be trimed down lenghtwise a mm or so , but it did fit according to curvature & width like a glove.

The case looks like  the Commander pictured in the 1940 database ad, but is Pink Gold and has a different dial, could be a letter variant that we do not have a ad for yet?

This watch has been very well cared for and still winds, sets and runs smooth.
