In my watches I have a 1955 Ranger listed. The more I understand how things work here and with Bulova , should it be a unknown due to the fact the only proof I have for this watch being a Ranger is the Glass and plastic crystals.
I think that isn't allot of proof.
OK, so I dug out some of my needs attention watches and came up with examples of a 1936 Crockett, a 1936 Commander, a 1937 Clipper and an unknown that appears to be in a Clipper case but with a Commander type of dial. All of these have 10AE movements most 17 jewels and one 15 jewel.
From left to right: 1937 Clipper 10AE 17J movement, 1938 Unknown 10AE 17J movement, 1936 Crockett 10AE17J movement, 1936 Commander 10AE 15J movement.
hello i bought one of these from an local auction house for 60 dollars...it has some parts ,tool holders and gravers and more...i did some homework on it and the prices on ebay are much higher than what i paid..it was marked as a watchmakers lathe but i don't know if i can use it for that...it looks like i am going to need a tailstock and a motor of course...but with a set of collets which i know my watchmaker has for sale..would i be able to use it as a watchmakers lathe...it seems like this was a good high class lathe when new..and for its size i don't know what else it would really be us

about a month ago i was looking for a certain movement. one of my fellow members was nice enough to direct me to a movement site. alas my movement wasnt there, but i thought i would go back from time to time to check for it. problem is cant find the paper i wrote the website on and of course at my age cant remember it either. could someone direct me to the site again? heres thanking you in advance. jfoley
I have a bulova that runs normal for a minute or two then slows down to almost stop and starts back up at regular speed with out any outside influence. This pulsing of the speed is very strange to me and I am wondering if any of you seasoned watch repair/builders might have some input for me as to what is really going on with the movement. I am not a trained repair person and would like to understand more about the working of the watch. Any help would be greatlhy appreciated.

Just a nice example of the Bulova Ambassador with the Buren Micro Rotor 1280 calibre. The bezel is 14K gold, and the compressor style case is accessed from the front, with a split stem. I need to replace the crown, and the hands look a bit moth eaten also. I might leave the dial as is, although it certainly won't win any awards either. It runs excellent since I serviced it, when I got it, it was badly magnetized, filthy, and swimming in oil. Also the crystal was the wrong size, and glued in place with gobs of epoxy. I like it, and I think it's a keeper.

Hour and Minute Hands are Gilt Modern style and a Gilt Modern Seconds Hand appears on a sub Dial fully obscuring the 6. Crown is signed Bulova. Caseback is Stainless Steel and stamped as shown. Double deployment clasp Gold basketweave bracelet is signed Kreisler.
