Hinged lugs Lug to Lug Length: 30.5mm Case Length: 22mm Width: 21mm Between Lugs: 14.5mm Solid 14KWG
You have quite a collection of the solid gold jobs, don't you? Very impressive.
Thank you, I kinda got into Bulova after I had already gotten the bug for older watches and started buying more solid gold rather than plated. I think this is the last solid one that I have to post. I only have one that is plated and also the '70 chrono.
I'm guessing you collect pipes too. My buddy was just here, and he was much more interested in the pipe in the picture than the watch (he collects pipes and fountain pens). The hallmark on the pipe meant something to him...but I don't remember what now. We collectors are a funny lot.
Don't collect'em, just smoke'em. I had an unusual artistic spurt taking pics that day. The pipe is a Peterson Aran 68.
movement date 1946, solid gold case back serial number suggests 1947. On several, but not all solid gold cases, the serial number is absent. This may be due to sub-contracted solid gold case manufacture for bulova. In some of these sub-contracted solid gold instances, a SN may be present, but uses a different system than "in house" cases manufactured by Bulova. Subject inside case back is Bulova New York, so for this example case SN to year of manufacture is good.
related to above but not necessarily subject watch-I believe some solid gold cases manufactured by sub-contractor outside USA don't have Bulova signature. Also, some solid gold cases manufactured by subcontractor within USA have both case manufacturer signature (e.g. Jonell watch case co- the capital J w/ arrow) and Bulova signature. Some subcontracted w/i USA only have subcontractor signature w/o Bulova signature.
Do we have a tentative model name for subject watch case shape/design in non-solid gold? Those hinged lugs should help. I'm looking now.

Hey Will,
I have several 14k Bulova's, all of mine are stamped 14K Gold, Bulova and bear a case serial #. All but 2 are marked Bulova, 14K Gold, New York, inside the case. I have seen a couple with the J w/ arrow but not in my collection.
Franklinton? Cross between "Franklin A" and "Princeton/ His excellency AA"!
1947 Beau Brummel, Darhin.
Another one bites the dust!

Thanks Bob that's great.
The ad doesn't give a gold content but for $195 I'm going to assume that the bracelette is also solid gold.
Great! Now I have to find 2 solid white gold basket weave bracelettes. I need one for my Tuxedo too.
