1950's Cloisonné Bulova Watches by Maguerite Koch

Submitted by JimDon5822 on

Recently I found some references online to several cloisonne dialed Bulova watches dating from the mid 1950s.   They are being attributed to Maguerite Koch and I am not 100% certain if this were mods or Bulova factory models.   Starting this thread for additional watch discoveries and info sharing.

Bulova Spinnaker

Submitted by JimDon5822 on

I just picked up a green Spinnaker and it made me think about ads.  Outside of the dial marks I do not recall every seeing an ad or linebook for the Spinnaker.  Based on my research there are 4 dial designs as follows:

White dial with Green stripe

White dial with Orange stripe

White dial with Blue stripe

White dial with Red stripe

Black dial with orange stripe

It appears to have come in at least two cases.  Round and Tonneau.  I would like to find an ad for these to understand them better.

James Franco wears a Sea King 'K' in the TV series '11.22.63'

Submitted by GuyMontag on

James Franco is seen wearing the Sea King 'K' at around 43:35 in the 2nd episode of 11.22.63. The date in the episode was October of 1960. The examples in the DB are all 1961, but he may have had it before traveling back in time to 1960.

Corrigan Tied to "The Flying Dutchman" move starting Douglas Corrigan

Submitted by JimDon5822 on

Who knew.....The Corrigan watch was officially tied to the movie "Thy Flying Dutchman" starring Douglas Corrigan.   Found in 1939 ad.  It would be great to find advertising associated with this tie in.
