Corrigan Tied to "The Flying Dutchman" move starting Douglas Corrigan

Submitted by JimDon5822 on

Who knew.....The Corrigan watch was officially tied to the movie "Thy Flying Dutchman" starring Douglas Corrigan.   Found in 1939 ad.  It would be great to find advertising associated with this tie in.

Wow, I'd say you made that in Photoshop as it's looks too good to be true, but there it is. What a great ad find.

Just to clarify:  The Flying Dutchman was a legendary ghost ship of the 17th Century.  Pandora and the Flying Dutchman is a 1951 movie featuring Ava Gardner.  The Flying Irishman is the 1939 biographical film.

You're correct Fifth. I watched "The Flying Irishman" movie last week on utube. It's a good movie for the time period.

On the left is the time at Floyd Bennet Field in NY., the right is the time at Baldonnel Aerodrome, Dublin. Ireland.

2 nice examples of the 'CORRIGAN' Merc, I'm only a little jealous.

The watches shown have non conforming bracelets. The CORRIGAN only had a multi-piece lug attachment supported bracelet that is basically impossible to duplicate.

Sorry, I don't have a pic.

I recently bought a 3D printer.  I am trying to learn how to produce missing parts for watches, boxes etc.   This would be an interesting item to try to print.   I just don't have the design skills or software yet.   This was my first attempt using someone else's design.  It is a box for a watch.  Seemed perfect for my Mighty Mouse watch.    I plan on getting a better print for the label.    I defintely would like to create inserts for some of the boxes that always seem to be missing them.

Anxious to see your talent develop - you have a great start Jim. Will you please print me a full size 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO in Scuderia Rosso please? I'll fly up to drive it back when it's ready.  The inline six cylinder is fine.
