1953 Bulova Commodore
Yellow gold case 10K RGP (stamped inside) dated L3, top-loader type, movement is accessed by removing bezel ring and crystal, and separating the two-piece stem; luminous dial and hands with yellow second hand - 1953 ad mentions it should be red; stainless caseback; 17-jewel 10BUC movement dated L3; original Bretton expansion band.
Commodore works for me, and that is one crisp example!
Agree with Commodore, nice one
Agree.
This is a wonderful example Ken, it cleaned up nicely. I note the seconds numbers on the dial, we don't see this very often on Bulova dials. I think they nail the ID straight down. Now on the non red sweep......just kidding.

Thanks, as for the red second hand I noticed that all of the other handful of Commodore examples of this style already in the database do not have the red hand; I like the contrast of the red hand on some models, but the yellow works well on this watch.
Does anyone know which crystal this watch takes?. The crystal is 28.2 mm outside diameter and 27.2 mm inside diameter. The crystal has to fit over a ring on the case and then the bezel ring goes over that for a seal.
Thanks much if anyone knows. Having a tough time finding the particular type.

Take a look at the 1950s waterproof crystal catalog section of this page, specifically #7. This watch uses the 1112E-1 crystal. The GS cross-ref is the PA 432.
Thanks very much for the info. Just what I need for this and subsequent parts and info.
