Picked this old gent up today boys! Fantastic etching around the bezel. This ones going to need quite a bit to get back up to snuff. Dial, glass, balance staff, hands.... can't wait to see how awesome this one is going to look when it's all said and done. As near as I can tell this is a yellow gold Commadore with etching around the bezel where all advertisements we have for this don't have it. So... either this is a variant case for the Commadore... or... as Bulova seems to do... it's probably some unknown name!
At first I though maybe a Kenmore like this 1937 Ad...
But the lugs are way off. The hidden lugs as well as the numbers and the rest of the watch on this Commadore are perfect other than the non-etched bezel.

With all of the models that Bulova had in the 30's and 40's that came in both plain and engraved versions, I would say that you do indeed have a commodore.
Congrats!!
Commadore for sure gets my vote.
Hrm... whose the two star guy? I'm supposing it's because of the etching? I know... I know.. Bulova loved to put etching on something and then call it a different name. I can't argue with you there... WAY to many examples of that out there...
Well, not to throw another wrench into the mix, but a 1936 ad shows that the commodore was white gold and the yellow gold version was called the Apollo. Still no mention of the engraving.

Good catch.
Well, it's easier when I can read the ad. ;-}
Perhaps then there are still several others... in say 15 & 17 Jewel options, just from the 1930s??
:-) Scott
perhaps!!
now it's like 1 star. what's up
Two ticks from me. Lets find that engraved version ad.
