Hey Zap,
It really would be a looker re-finished but it's pretty clean as it is. I'd keep it original, just replaceing the crystal will go a long way.

I really would like to know what the box looked like for this watch. Anybody have a clue?
This is based on the Valjoux 72, and is an excellent chronograph movt., found also in a nice watch called a Daytona for many years.

I always thought that the daytona used the zenith one. Or is that the same. ?

The Zenith 400 'El Primero' was used as the base for the Rolex Calibre starting in 1988. It was heavily modified, including stepping down the high frequency balance from 36000 a/h to 28,800. All watch manufacturers who initially jumped on the high frequency bandwagon abandoned the 36000 a/h movts because of increased and rapid wear.
