Wonderful watch, even the crown looks original, I like this one a lot. We've discussed this style several times, still Unknown to me......

I think my watch is similar to this "senator":  http://www.mybulova.com/watches/1926-senator-6039. Do you think there was adverts for every  models and variations of a model in that period?  It is possible that it was an unknown model never advertised?

I agree, your watch is the same as the other earlier Senators in the db.  I think there are quite a few unknown models around that have no matching ads, and many we have not even seen an example of.  One such is a 1930's self-winding Bulova. I have been waiting for pictures, and hope to get some soon.  Meanwhile, I would be happy with Senator for your watch's ID Tony.

That would be a rare bird indeed. It would have to be a bumper, probably an ebauche made by AS?

Rob, I watched a Webinar last week by Adam Harris, guest curator at the NAWCC museum. It was about the history of automatics up until 1940's, and featured one of these Bulovas but the photo did not appear onscreen for me. He is also negotiating buying one other Bulova 1930's auto for his collection, and has promised to email me photos if he can get the piece.

Here is a link to view the Webinar.  https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/recording/2167023431692562690  Pictures and info here: http://www.mybulova.com/forums/bulova-wig-wag-1933-automatic-watch

With a couple other similar watches (both 1926 I think) ID'ed in DB as Senator, shoud this 1927 also be ID'ed the same-tentative Senator ID.

Either that, or mark those others as unknown too Will.

Found this 1928 ad showing a Bulova Clayton.   The image is not great but you can see the beveled corner on the lower right plus you can see the flower engraving in the center of the top.   The Grand Rapids Press   Grand Rapids, Michigan · Friday, December 07, 1928

CLAYTON

Here is another ad showing an unengraved version but clearly showing the case shape.

Clayton

And another ad describing conservative engraving.

It's those lugs. I just can't say for certain they are the same and angled ever so slightly. It's certainly a name to consider as we have not been able to match it with any other known model and the Clayton is certainly a new name. Everything else looks like it could be a match. We need a better ad :-)
