As part of my TimeCapsule-Watch.com personalized wristwatch collection, I acquired a 10kt yellow gold Bulova 15 jewel 10AN movement watch that was presented to Dr. Arnold Zacchino on May 19, 1935. The back case is beautifully engraved, "Presented to ~ Dr. A.A. Zacchino ~ by the ~ Italian Sport Circle ~ May 19 '35". I will be contacting one of Dr. Zacchino's grandchildren and offering to return it to them at no charge; this is one of my most important TimeCapsule goals.
It features a sweep-second dial identical to that on the 1930s Bulova NURSE model. The engraved case is very similar / identical to a 1930s square STANFORD case (or possibly a Lone Eagle IV case). I could not find any "Physicians" models with a sweep-second dial listed on MyBulova. I would like your help to identify this model.
Hi Bob - First off - thank you for the task you've undertaking to return heirloom watches to families. We get pretty excited when a new member brings and heirloom from their own family but you've taken one step further, reuniting watches to original owners family. WELL DONE! I'm certain that Dr. Zacchino's grand children will be happy to have it 'back home'.
So glad to see this watch in our data base, thanks for adding it. I was surprised when Carl sent it to me last week as it's another vintage Bulova I haven't seen in yellow gold WITH a sweep seconds hand. We have a sub seconds white gold version HERE (less sweep). Per the advert below, this one is a Woodside case but I'm not 100% sure the true name of the sweep seconds model was also Woodside. I've also added the 1935 Bulova Nurse advert, which showing sweep AND the engraved case is my choice for the ID even though the watch was presented to a doctor. I do note that the other "Nurse' models we have do not have the case engraving this beauty has.

Casing is identical to the men's Woodside with a sweep second feature. It's a super watch and your website is great. I'm a big fan of personalized watches and have a few myself. It's always thrill to put a face and personal story with a watch. My own favorite is a 1946 Bulova War Hawk that is in the mybulova database

Thank you for your comments confirming that this is a Nurse model -- although I find it interesting that this appears to be the 1st reference to a "Physician's" watch with a gold engraved case.

Yes, I will be updating my Dr. Zacchino research to indicate that this is a "Nurse" model watch. I did find it interesting that the square engraved case appears to have been used on several different models -- including the Lone Eagle IV model illustrated on Watchophila ( https://www.watchophilia.com/photogallery/lone-eagle-models/ ).
