Bought another Rubaiyat for my wife and thought I'd post it for the database. Transitional, with the crown at the top. I'm tentatively putting this down as 1918, but not really sure how you date them. Nice, running watch, with Rubaiyat on the dial, as well as on the movement, so I'm assuming very early...
Hi David, your Rubaiyat will be probably from 1917 because (by indications of Lisa´s analysis) :
- Case signed "American Standard W.C.Co" with no globe or shield
- Movement signed "Rubaiyat"
- Dial signed "Rubaiyat"
- No movement caliber designation
- No movement serial number
- No movement date code
- Case serial number begins with "2"
- Case style of pocket watch, typically converted to wear on the wrist; crown at 12 o'clock position
In reply to Hi David, your Rubaiyat will by jabs
Thanks jabs. I found this on Lisa's site. Mine looks similar, except that the dial on mine is signed Rubaiyat
We are dating these early Rubaiyats based on the second digit in the case serial number. In this case a '7', thus 1917.
We have yet to determine why these early models started with a '2' and the later cases of 1921/22 started with a '1'.
I'm sure that there is an explanation. We have just yet to figure it out.
