Good one Martin.

The Case could very well be 1915, the verdict is out on that one but the Movement would not pre-date Nov of 1916.

1916 'RUBAIYAT'

So this is a great data point in looking at how we determine these early watches and their year of manufacture.

With 'Rubaiyat' being noted as first used in 1916, it does now seem the 25xxxxx notion equating to 1915 needs to be revisited as does the year of my 1915 American Maid watch (2522892).

The subject watch is also very simialr to my 1917 Red 12 Rubaiyat. I'm sure I'm seeing a red 12 on this watch too. That one has a case serial number os 2723094.

The lingue for all these is indeed 9 3/4, but this is certainly the first I've seen with the linge stamped on the case back.

Perhaps we need to date both these 25xxxxx watches as 1916.

I'm also noting the lack of the bottom lug wire were a band would attach, indicating this watch was a true lapel watch.

will not be the first time a claim date use was not the same as in reality. that one can pre-date 1916 as the american maid too. i think.

1916 'Rubaiyat'  seems fair. I bow to the members more educated in the early women's watches.

I will agree with 1916 Rubaiyat, great early example!
