Hi!
An other first one for the d.b.
Rubaiyat 1918 !
with the roman match number on crystal ring. IX, VII, IV, II. (9742).
Crown at 3 o'clock and obviously made as a wirstwatch!
Just a real surprise because the seller never opened it. so no pics when i buy it on ebay beside front and back..... tough was a 1920 cause of the hands but probably not the good ones on this amazing 1918 RUBAIYAT !
I am near the moon with this one!
She is the oldest in my collection!
Congratulations, a 1918 Rubaiyat she is. Looks to be the earlest ladies 3 o'clock stem-wind case we have in the DB. Is she a runner?

a nice find.
'RUBAIYAT' for sure.
How do We determine 1918?

with two first serial case digit.... if you see 12...... its a 1922. if you see 29..... its a 1919.
Sorry, I can't comprehend this case dating method as it defies logic.
1 comes before 2
Here is one beginning in 10

the one you show me have the globe and its a 1920 the globe was not here before 20'. look at all rubaiyat on db. only one or two was misdated. but you will see the patern dating.
I would say a case beginning in 2 is 1922, but I could be wrong.

of course, cause the dating for rubaiyat was not the same established by bulova post 1919.
Fifth, I determined a while ago that the cases stamped with the old globe and Amercian Standard Watch Case Company used ther 2nd digit as the year.
Case from 1920 typically start with a 1xxxx where by thesecond numer is the year....it's the same with these very early models for 1916 to 1919.

... and dont forget to talk about the long leg "R" tipically used between a very short range like 1916-1918 if im right
