Bulova Senator (1940?)

Submitted by nwfisk on

Hello all, I'm just starting to become interested in vintage watches, Bulova watches in particular, and I recently failed my first attempt at picking one up via auction. Now, I'm hoping to more specifically identify the watch, so I might search one out.

The auction (with images) was at:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rt=nc&nma=true&item=26071…

The case has a number stamped on the back - "0713444"

Here we have Five unknowns for iding and adding to the site and one (#6) which has been narrowed down to either a Bowen or Hayden. Anyone care to take a stab at these? I've spent ages searching through adverts etc, cant find them...my heads spinning

Corrigan

I recently came across a Corrigan and was looking at the way the bezel was attached to the case.  It seemed that this was engineered very badly and counting on the spring bars to hold it in place was wishfull thinking at best.  I came across some pictures of one with flexible lugs attached which look like they would hold the bezel on much more securely.  Is it possible that the Corrigan originally came with the flexible lugs and most were removed to fit a more conventional band?
