There was no lawsuit, I'm not sure why you continue to perpetrate the myth that there was. Every time you repeat a story that is not true I will post this response:
John - the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences never sued Bulova. In fact Bulova bailed them out of foreclusure on their offices in return for the rights to use the Oscar name in advertising. In the future the Academy asked for and received a stipulation that Bulova stop using their name. There was a firm the DID sue Bulova named Academy Awards Products. The firm had been incorporated exclusively for the purposes of gaining a legal settlement from Bulova and was not affiliated with the AMPAS in any way. THEIR lawsuit was dismissed as fraudulent.
