10K Rolled Gold Plate
I think this is the Barbara but it has a 7 jewel movement not 17 as stated in the ad.
Looking at the 1939 ads it might be a Rona that has a 7 jewel movement. http://www.mybulova.com/vintage-bulova-watch-ads?title=193

Thank you very much!
1939 Rona (s/n starts with a 9 as Stephen states below) on what appears to be a period Barbara band. Although the band differs slightly from the Rona ad, it's style and age correct for the watch and could possibly be original as received from the point of purchase jeweler. Nice watch!

Thank you! They are very close in appearance and I think the band is what threw me off.
Your watch in wonderful condition. I agree with it being a seven (7) jeweled 1939 Bulova 'Rona', based on the case serial number.

Thank you! I will need to learn how to figure out the case serial numbers in the future.
What a beautiful watch. It amazes me that it's in almost new condition, it looks like its hardly been worn.
