Watch Repair

Aquired an Accutron 214 of unknown History late last Year. Installed a new Accucell (correct voltage) and it started to hum and run flawlessly. I checked on it about a Week ago and it had lost time, which was very unusual as it had ran perfectly. Now it still hums (louder?) but the Hands are not moving - is this a clean and service issue?

I have removed the Battery.

Could anyone tell me how to determine which crystal I need for the N4 Jet Star? Is there a way of matching a crystal to a case by number? I have found a seller on ebay, and all the round crystals are in original packaging and listed with reference numbers like PA462-10 etc...

My case has the following markings:

T0036433 N4 and on the inside T-3081

My mom has a Bulova watch with a Duchess watch band that my late dad gave her.  I think around 1965.  She would really like to start wearing the watch again but needs more links to make it larger.  I'm wondering if anyone knows where and/or how I could find more links.

I am looking for a center wheel and cannon pinion for a 8 AD. If anyone has one or a old movement with one at a good deal, please let me know. Thanks

Having a bad night not only did i only break even on a watch..i put together an 8ac and the balance seems to be binding on something,its not the center wheel i checked that,maybe the barrel is binding on the 1st wheel????

I picked up this 1955 Watertite?? at a local auction with a bunch of others, nice case, great running, but had a real ugly dial and well worn crystal.

I tried glass cleaner, soapy water and could not get the gunk off. The better half suggested I add a little white vinegar to hot soapy water, so I did and like magic it lifted it right off!

I just picked this up and will add to the database when it arrives. Sellers description:

hello i am working on a 7ak and and one of the last coils on the hairspring are touching...i dont have any hairspring tweezers or tools.,, can this be attemped with regaular watchmakers tweezers? Can anyone suggest any books or ebooks on hairspring manipulation, bending the hairspring?

can any give any advice on how to clean watch hands...can you use to clean parts...i have a beautiful ranger with a great dial and and case...but the hands are rotted, i guess that what it is oxidation...does anyone have a good method for cleaning hands...also a rub or polish with adbrasive properties....sorry if these questions are to general but i figure things like this can help other up and coming watchmakers/hobbist

Hello maybe i am just doing this wrong but there has to be a better way to get the watch oil out of the container???? there has to be someother way instead of playing around with a screwdriver and hoping it comes out and in to the oil cup correctly...Hope for no smears, lost oil, dirt in the oil vial. Has any one had good luck using a automatic oiler...I dont know about the one size fits all on them...and unless your a heroin addict or something i don't really have too many needles lying around...can someone help me...thanks ahead of time....
