I had the good fortune of purchasing this watch directly from the college athlete who won it for placing first in the 61st Drake Relays of the American Athletic Classic of 1970. Held at Drake Stadium at Drake University, De Moines, IA.
Mr. Jerome Liebenberg of Western Michigan placed first in the 3,000M Steeplechase with the record breaking time of 8:54.6.
He said he never wore this watch and it lived in his dresser for 55 years exactly as he received it.. Condition is spotless. Runs a little fast and I'm sure a service will fix that.
BAA (Bulova Athletic Awards) division award watch. Found a match in the Competitive Excellence ad from 1971 as a 1969 Bulova Sea King "AL", with variant number designation. Take note that the ad model number 13425 is a match to the sticker on the original box.
