This watch was my mother's and that is her initials engraved on the back - M.D.C.
The back of the watch has the following on it :

10k RGP Bezel
Stainless Steel Back
V383414
I spent a good bit of time sifting through the old advertisement images, but could not find a match for this watch. I think this is another one that falls in between the two date code schemes.
This one is in great condition and still works. It hasn't been worn in several decades.
Welcome to myBulova and thank you for sharing your mother's watch with us. A very nice heirloom for you to have. Your watch is a SVP VII from 1960. As seen in the 1961_LineBook_BAWD0147 page 1. The MO is the date code on the case for 1960.

Date codes are explained here. You can also get the link off the home page under "Information" or "dating Bulovas".
I agree with Kathy.
1960 Bulova SVP "VII".
Here is an ad showing your Mom's watch from 1959 that explains the naming.

Thanks for adding this to the database; it's the first example of the "VII" variant to be submitted!

Loving that dial and how even the linebook entry catches the lighting the same way.

Thanks for all of the kinds words and I like that this watch helped the database.
I wish I knew the story behind this watch. Who bought it for my mother? Was it for a special occasion? And why did she quit wearing it? These are questions I will never know the answer to. But, at least I know what this watch is and when it was made. :)
