Nice man's American Eagle (don't know why I said President) here. My second favorite dial of this series behind the explosion dial. Case serial is odd on this one, starting with a 5.
I think this one is an American Eagle. unknown variant. Case S/N is a mystery. I think the latest we have seen to date is 1942. I'm inclined to date it by the movement.
Agree with 1940 Bulova American Eagle. Also not been able to find a matching variant.
One of my favorite dials as well. Wonderful with that bracelet.
American Eagle
So, I now have a 'theory'.
The few adverts we have showing various Amercian Eagle models have different hands from the subject watch.
Howerever both the dial and hands look to be a perfect match for a 1940 Bulova President "B"
Thus my theory leans towards the case being an Amercian Eagle, with the dial and hands being from a President "B".

No way this is a dial replacement. This is a legit model. I've had 3 or 4 of them myself over the years. I've seen a few others. This is a legit model. We have 4 others in the database.
Also I'm pretty sure the dials are different sized.
In that case I think we should ID as American Eagle and note a possible dial replacement. - 1940 Bulova American Eagle
