EDIT: 2012.11.13 Changed year of production from 1933 to 1939 based on case serial number. Will
Change the name of this Unknown to American Clipper
Thanks
Wayne
I thought the clippers have a hex shape case. This looks more like a minute man/president doesn't it?
17J 7AP would be a Minute Man, 21J would make it a President but there's a Dial variant to both.
It's not an American Clipper Case.

The 1930s (at least 1935+) Clippers are all (slightly) hexagonal, ONLY...
(1936/7) Ben Hur or perhaps the (Mid 30s+ ) Stanford? (No image/illus. yet, for that one!) Might also be a "Calhoun???" You'll frankly need a better photo of the movement, to determine the date???

L - 1936 'AMERICAN CLIPPER' (White Dial variant showing in the lower right corner)

O - 1936 'PRESIDENT'.
'MINUTE MAN' shares the same Case minus the Bezel engraving - which is the Case showing on the unknown.
* Dial variant to both as mentioned prior.
As new ads emerge and knowledge learned it's good that We can finally ID some of these old stumpers.

The case Seriel number entered by the Watch owner above suggests the Watch was manufactured in 1939 and not 1933 as listed.
Database ad Dated 1939: http://www.mybulova.com/sites/default/files/vintage_ads/bulova-ad-1939-…
'MINUTE MAN'
...and a clear ad for the Minute Man These things take time. This is a real old record.
...don't know where the "D" came from.... but we do have new ads of late. Case SN suggests 1939- in line w/ generic Minute Man ad. I can't make out a date symbol on the movement picture....

I would agree on a generic 'MINUTE MAN' entry with a 1939 Date of Manufacture based solely on the Case S/N entered by the Owner.
One pulled from the bucket.....
