Google thought that it might be a travel clock or a desk time piece.

A very rare 1928 Bulova car clock which could also be used as a travel clock when placed inside a travel case like this example.

1920s Bulova car / travel clock

They could also be mounted to the dashboard of the vehicle with the right mounting.

I believe the small circular hole at the 9 o'clock position turns red when wound down.

Thank you for the response! I have been combing through the internet trying to figure out what it is.  Was there a specific car manufacturer that would have used them or is it an aftermarket add on type deal? I would love to find an advertisement for it.

And yes, it does display red when it is wound down.

Pretty sure it was just an add-on and a number of watch manufactures produced them.

Does it run?

Good to know.  Yes it does run.  I am going to wait for it to wind down and then time it to see if it goes for 8 days.

Wow this is a rare one from early in Bulova's history.   Can't say I have seen one before.   1928 Bulova Clock 8-Day gets my vote.

Seems like a good model ID to assign Jim.
