I wanted an early model and picked this up. It is in pretty good shape for the age and is running. I think it might be a Lady Maxim but I am not sure on that or the date. I can not find any serial # on the movement or a movement model.
Inside the case reads American Standard, has the globe, Warranted 25 years, 14K gold filled, monogram quality, (serial #) 1005313. The outside of the case is polished, no signature or info. The band looks like a replacement from the 30's.
The movement is signed Bulova W. Co, "A" A, 15 jewels, 3 adj, Swiss, O.Burki. I do not see a date stamp, model (unless it is "A"A) or serial #.
Looking forward to any info you might have on these early models.
This movt is the FHF Robert but AS had one that looked like this also. Burki does not appear as a manufacturer in any of the archives.

See my post above, it appears Burki may have been an early employee of Bulova.

I had a look through both the 1951 and 1953 Bulova Annual Reports and found no reference to 'Burki'. Did you find the reference? What page?
It's a very interesting connection.

When I typed "Burki Bulova" into google, I got links to both documents as PDF files, indicating both words were somewhere in them, with the subtext "Oscar Burki". Below is a cut and paste of exactly what appears in google search.

I couldn't get either to open and load, so where it is in the documents is unknown by me.
Oh Kathy, you just opened up a whole new era for yur collection, look out eBay, her she comes!
Fascinating read. Oscar's son Arde went on to be a marketing exec with Bulova also, and then with Seiko, Cartier, and IWC, retiring in 1988.

Yes I found an article on Arde in the 1970s when he worked for Seiko. Was wondering if it was a relation to Oscar, now I know.
FLAG !!!
By case s/n this one should be a 1920.
