I'm sure this is an Academy Award, but I'm not sure which variant. It has a neat "Corfam" band - I'm not sure if it is original or not. I gotr this one for my wife. She's a vintage movie fan and this is her favorite watch. OK condition and runs well. 10K YGF Bulova case. Case marked L0 for 1950, but movement marked A9 for 1949. Not sure if it was common for movement and case year numbers not to match. Perhaps this is a rplacement case?
Correction to typo in the Additional Information. The case is marked L0 for 1950 (not 1959).

It seems quite typical for the movement and case to be off by a year like this. Nice watch, I am sure your wife is going to enjoy it!

Fixed :o)
1949 Bulova Academy Award "X"

Academy Award "X".
Watch originally came on leather. The Corfam "patent leather" band is a replacement, likely production dated between 1963 and 1972, which was the time frame it was produced..
No issue with movement date of 49 and case date of 50. It's quite common. Watch should probably be dated by the case.

AA Models were produced from 1949-1952

I've always loved these ribbed gold dials and have only ever seen them on Bulova AA watches.
It's fantastic that we are now able to finally ID these variants with a good deal of accuracy (thanks to Plains!)
1950 Bulova Academy Award 'X' it is.
Yes, hard to miss an Academy Award ID. Remember, the difference in production between a '49 movement and '50 case could be just a couple days (last working day December, first working day of January).
1950 Bulova Academy Award X
Sweet, Great condition. A very nice example of a AA - X.
I have to get my collection of AA's from storage and get them posted. I have them all, in display cases and some with guarentee papers. Over achiever to aquire them all, slacker when it comes to posting. LOL
Admin, The ribbed dials are actually Curtain dials. So I've been told by a few collectors and researcher's.
