Wish I could see this one better. Square with engraved sides. Raised (probably gold) numerals.

Ahh both white and yellow gold combined. So probably a white gold case with yellow gold engraved sides.

Possible unknown candidates might be these: 

Dials are the earlier style, but might still be a match.

New model.  1939 Perisphere.  Designed after the Perisphere at the 1939 New York Worlds Fair.  Found a match to this watch in unknown and posted this ad to it.

Two ads with one identifying this as a 1939 Ambassdor.  Very different from the other Ambassadors from 1939.   Another ad identitifies it correctly as an Officer.   Interesting.  The Montana Standard (Butte, Silver Bow, Montana, United States of America) · 17 Dec 1939

i just noticed the ad calling it Ambassador says 21j while the others say 17j.   Most likely a newspaper error showing the wrong watch.

1929 Unknown (Men's Smart)

Finally an ad match for the unknown models with the fully engraved bezel and lugs.   Unfortunately they do not give us a name.  This ad is from 1929 so the model existed them and mine is a 1930 so we have a least a 2 year range on this.  Maybe we can temp name it “Men’s Smart” based on this ad until a better ID is found.

I would submit that the watch in the advert isn't a Bulova, I'm not sure what it says on the dial but it doesn't appear to be Bulova.

Agreed, would be from another brand as shown on the dial. Interestingly though if the 1927.28 Coner Cut Lone Eagle and Sky King were to ever produce off-spring I suspect it would look exectly like this :-)

I suspect the Clipper may be a mis-print. It appears to be a pic of an Ambassador. Pretty distinctive case and band.
