Going on the panel majority I've marked this as an "F" tentative.

I hope like the Rite Angle we will one day know for sure....but then again we may never as Bulova may never have released this engraved version on a leather mount. The original matching bracelet may have been long removed and lost like so many were as the times changed or it broke, We may never know.

I totally agree on the mount / variation notion...but in this case the determining factor I'm going on is the engraved case. The story may well be exactly the same the Shawns Rite Angle.

The least this could be given is a tentative for the "F" designation, as one tick is saying it is not even the AC model.

I star/check/tick indicates it is not confirmed as the 'AMERCAN CLIPPER' "F", as it is not.

2 stars/checks/ticks would indicate a tentative 'AMERICAN CLIPPER' "F" - which I don't think it is.

3 stars/checks/ticks would indicate a confirmed 'AMERCAN CLIPPER' "F".

.......is the way I interpret the system in this instance.

My vote does not indicate the Watch is not an 'AMERICAN CLIPPER', My vote reflects My viewpoint on the "F" designation.

A Watch cannot be a tentative variant, it either is or it is not and If the subject Watch were to be listed as the 'AMERICAN CLIPPER' I would rate it 3 stars/checks/ticks.

Jay,

'AMERICAN CLIPPER' - As the bracelet/strap type makes a difference in the variant designation. As exampled below:

Fair enough buddy, your vote. I give three ticks, as it is the closest thing to an F, until more evidence turns up and we can then alter our ratings if required.

How do We confirm (3 ticks) the 'F' variant?

A Watch is either the variant shown in the ad, or it is not. In this case the Watch does not match the ad for the 'F' variant.

That is my prerogative I believe, as it is yours to give one tick.
Edit:- And looking at the rating, at least one panellist agrees with me.

The "system" is working perfectly in this example IMO. Panel members assign their ticks based on their research and opinions.  We state why we do so.  The minority voices their opinions (w/ more examples/ads etc...) and as Admin says, nothing is set in stone.

I'm not sure I could agree with any "confirmed F" but I don't have to.  I give two ticks tentative.

IMO this is how MB is suppose to work (as Shawn and OT have said in previous posts).

On some further reflection I'm now inclined to change my vote back to a generic AE as for all we know there still may be a 'G' or 'H' that matches the engraved/leather combo.

3 ticks American Clipper.
