1943 Bulova Watertite
One piece stainless steel case
210 stamped inside the case
10BA movement
X date code symbol
I have discovered these cases have nothing to identify the year through 1945 at least. The date code on the movement is the only indication of the date. We don’t have examples from 1946 or 1947 at this time. A 2 digit date is found in models from 1948 and later.
A nice clean example of a 1945 Bulova Watertite.

The movement date code symbol is an X.
Nice, This is actually the watch I'm wearing today!

Is the backcase void of any markings?

Yes. Completely clean.
Other thn the 1930 Watertite, the earliest full advert we have for 'Watertite' is 1950. Prior to this it was 'Watertight'.
Do we have any adverts for Watertite pre 1950 (other than the 1930 model)?
So i'm hoping to work out why some adverts used 'Watertight' and others 'Watertite'
Here's some early 1940s example of Watertight - Watertite adverts:
- 1940 Commander (Water-tite)
- 1941 Commander (Watertite from Canadian advert)
- 1941 Watertite advert
- 1942 Watertite advert
- 1942 Watertight advert
- 1941/42 Watertight advert
- 1941/42 Watertight advert
- 1942 Watertight advert
Nothing from 1943 to 1949 for either Watertite or Watertight.
Seems in 1941-42 Watertite and Watertight where interchangable....or am I missing something?
I'm trying to confirm the year and name variant...tight or tite, which is obviously a different watch between the subject watch and these adverts.
I had my issues with Watertight vs Watertite until I acquired the box and the name on the dial. I suspect there was a copyright issue with the name Watertight and they changed in around 42. Here is my 1941 https://mybulova.com/watches/1941-watertight-13621. Note the case is a flat backed top loader. Note this is a marriage of watch and box and case and did not come together but I felt belonged together. The 1942 ad below also designates Watertight as a yellow gold case like mine.
.

Is it just me, or are all the Watertights/Watertites mentioned/shown all sub-second watches?
This has been the sticking point for me with saying this is a 1943 Bulova Watertight/tite.

I assume this is not taking into consideration the Watertite’s from 1950 and later.
