I believe this to be a very early Watertite with a very low serial number. As with all of my watches it runs very well and has been dis-assembled and cleaned and re-assembled and oiled. Hands need a relume and will get it when I have the time as I have about 50 hands to relume. Dial is in good shape and only need numerals relumed.
why can't they all have the model name printed right on the Dial?
Then it wouldn't as much fun.
what do ya think that 479 is? Case number (not SN)? Maybe a run for H2O testing?
Case reference #
Is that another number "1" after the 479?
JP, is there nothing stamped on the outside of the case back?
It looks like "4794" stamped inside the case back.
In reply to JP, is there nothing stamped by DarHin
sure does look like "4794" Case Reference number- I kinda suspected.
Watertite it is, that was easy!
Watertite from me.
As near as I can see, there is nothing on the case back and the number on the inside is just 479. I looked the back over with a 10 power loop and found nothing there. The 479 throws me off though because it is awfully low for a serial number for a 42 since they made these as far back as 1930.
Just another of the weird watches I seem to come up with. I am going to take it to a friend who has a microscope and see if there is anything I am missing. I will update you later.
