Watch Repair

can anyone recommend someone in Atlanta qualified to work on a 1971 spaceview?  I need a battery, but it has been a while since this watch has been checked over, so I would like to have a "checkup done).  thanks for any suggestions

I have an L3 automatic, grade 10CSC, 17 jewel. Non running, but in very nice appearing condition, movement, case, dial and hands. If I hold very slight counter clockwise pressure on the crown when in setting position, the watch can be forced to run. Is this typical? I have only recently gotten into wrist watches, but have been collecting pocket watches for some time. I know that a conventional wind watch can be forced to run by winding it fully and holding pressure on the crown.

Hi...Can anyone tell me how to remove a Watertite movement from the case?  I can get the front bezel off easily, but have no clue as to what to do next.  Do these have two-part stems?  Any info would be much appreciated!

I had this watch restored by        . He did a nice job, but shortly after the restoration the case popped open. I sent it back in Feb 2012, and just got it back yesterday (6 Dec 2012) untouched/not repaired.  11 MONTHS !!!

Hi, I have a 1951 Academy Award - identified using vintage ads - that has a stuck winding stem. The stem is rusty so I want to replace it. The crown has also corroded to the point where it can be screwed on but it's too weak to use it to wind the watch. I have the movement out of the case. It's a 10BM. How do I remove the stem?

I cleaned the dial using warm water, detergent, and vinegar. Did remove some of the small indices.

Just found my Grandfather's 1965 Date King.  I don't remember him ever wearing it, but it needs some servicing.  Just wondering what I could expect to pay for the following:  crystal replacement or polished, movement cleaned/serviced.  Is waterproofing something that gets attention during service?

The watch works, but is probably desparate for cleaning.  Any recommendations for a trusted source in Michigan (Saginaw area preferred)?

Ok, I've been asked about this a few times recently, and without further ado, please excuse me if you've read this before, or if you already know this, or have heard me go off about this elsewhere. 

I'll spare you all my usual rant about watch services, and just deliver a cautionary post.

So my 214 accutron which has not run or even seen the light of day (until a couple of months ago that is) since 1991, is running a little fast about 90 seconds per day. I mean I'm sure it's excited that it is operating again after all these years , however how can I get her to slow down just a little? Also I'm excited because I'm traveling and I asked the TSA about screening and the supervisor knew exactly what I was talking about when I mentioned Accutron so they are going to keep my watch away from the machines at the screening point.

So I have a 214 Accutron that needs new glo-in-dark paint on arms and dial. It is nearly 50 years old and the glow does not last more than 30 seconds. My thought is I'm not sure if my jewler can do it maybe he can open it but a hobby shop can paint the rest? Secondly can I use a better quality glow paint and still maintain its orginality?(the technology has gotten better since then ) And lastly I'm thinking of switching color to blue from green for paint but may stick with green. Thoughts?
