Vintage Bulova information sharing

  The idea that the early Bulova wrist watches belonged to the Lady/Hudson Maxim lines is not a new one, it has been discussed on this and other sites for quite some time.

Until recently, this has stayed in the "ideas" department, as there was little proof to back it up.

With the finding of actual Lady/Hudson Maxim adverts dating from mid-1921 right up until 1924, we have a basis for some debate and some of the ads even back up the above "idea".

Some odds and ends I have come across here and there, I thought they might come in handy for you DIY-ers out there.

 I just want to submit a suggestion to guys who swap out a movement in their Bulovas because it's cheaper than repairing the original. If it's the same model movement and jewel count, but a different year, swap out the barrel bridge on the two movements. Then your replacement movement will still have the date code as the original. It's just a 30 minute job and in my opinion it helps retain the originality of the watch and it sure won't hurt the value. What do you think?

This find below has recently come to light. On it, I have found some interesting facts that clear up some previously held misconceptions.

I will try to quote the exact wording so as to make it clearer for anyone interested. (not forcing anyone to read it!)

"Bulova Watch Company Inc, together with it's subsidiaries, all wholly owned, is one of the World's largest manufacturers of strap and wrist watches with jewelled movements.

There has been talk of the Lone Eagle being the first Bulova Presentation Watch, but wasn't the President model the first?

Here is the earliest mention of the Bulova presentation watch I can find, September 6, 1925. The next mention of the new President model is six days later, and has no picture.

 This is "the same model as President Coolidge presented to Bucky Harris", another ad from the same paper dated to September 11, 1925 says "is an exact replica as the one presented.."etc.

Hi people

Just been looking on ebaby and there is a bulova watch for sale which has the bulova name on dial and just above the second hand the words 17 jewels   l havent seen  this on any of the older rectangled rwatch dials before. Has any membercme across one or is thisa fake dial .  I have contacted seller requesting more detils of the movement etc.
