N76 Accuquartz, 2242 movement.
The most distinctive feature of the watch are the faceted crystal and reflective blue dial, which has vertical striations. Even a slight movement of the watch or eye position changes the appearance of the dial.
The crystal has three facets, with the edges of the three facets forming two horizontal lines. The hands will occasionally appear to have a lightning bolt shape as they pass under a facet edge.
The 224 series movement is regulated using a series of six tuning capacitors located on the crown side of the movement. The lowest position is for coarse adjustment, with gradually finer degrees of adjustment provided by the other positions going upwards. The presence of a screw in a position slows the mechanism by a prescribed amount. Those screws are extremely small even for watch screws, 0.5 mm in diameter.
I have seen photos of similar Accuquartz watches with a brown dial and gold tone case.
This watch came to me with a blue Accutron Corfam strap. I replaced it with the tuning fork branded bracelet you see here.

Bulova 1973 Accuquartz
1972 Bulova Accuquarts Day Date. Asymmetric shaped case. 2242 Bulova UAS movement. This a another is another that had been discarded as broken. When I acquired this watch the battery retaining bar was missing. A fellow Bulova collector in a Facebook group was kind enough to offer me one of his spares for free. Once installed with a new battery it took running. Humming like a champ. As you can see, the movement has had a rough time or two. Looks like severe battery corrosion but still has not stopped this guy from keeping almost perfect time. The first month I had it operating it picked up 12 seconds. There is still some work to be done. The wind is tough and the day and date wheel do not advance. It has an appointment with my watchmaker and hopefully will be good as new soon. I love the Asymmetric shape watches. Its just a great piece to look at. The shape, the dial finish is a sort of a two tone metallic, the diamond and logo at the 9.
I have so far been unable to locate any adverts with this case style.

Bulova 1974 Accuquartz
Hello there,
I just recently found this beautiful bulova watch that belonged to my great grandfather. However I do not know anything about it and I could not tell which model it is. (The lower line of the serial number is really hard to read, so I kinda guessed that it is an M. That means the age could be entirely wrong) Id be pleased if anyone could help me to learn more about this watch.
regards
Philip

Certainly an interesting piece. The accuracy of quartz with the charm of an Accutron hum and sweeping seconds hand? At least I believe that's how it works... The 2240 AccuQuartz movement moves at something like 341 1/3Hz as opposed to the 360Hz of a normal Accutron and seems to have resulted in a noticeably lower tone hum.
I feel I probably paid a bit too much for this watch, especially considering how dirty (disgusting) is was when I recieved it. But, I really wanted to own this little piece of odd Bulova history.
The one thing that really annoys me about this watch is that the applied indices are not very well placed. I don't believe this watch has been restored or refurbished, and the other similar 1973 AccuQuartz in the database here also looks like the indices are somewhat poorly placed. Is this normal? If it is, I won't worry about having it fixed and it won't annoy me quite as much.
