Can you make out the black stamp on the inside back case?
Is it just me or does the case look too big for the movement?

Hello Steve,
Just found this on the end of the first row of 1967 Sea King models. I don't know, doesn't have the whale, but everything else looks the same. Just trying to be Sherlock Holmes here

The movement year is 1966 on mine...just noticed that it says self winding instead of automatic
I just popped the back under my microscope and at about 50x I can see remnants of the ink over to the right of the six past the watchmaker scribe, so it would appear that the 6 is the fourth digit. The third digit has a ghost, but not decipherable...maybe an 8. As far as the movement, I just took it out of the case again so you could see how precisely the movement ring fits, and how similar the diameter of it is to the dial. It has maybe a couple microns clearance as it slots into the case groove below the crystal. I think what you may be seeing is the slightly darker discoloration around the dial perimeter. I tried to gently clean it with a Zeiss wipe, but it mostly remains. I will replace the dial if I find an identical one in near new condition.
on second examination I think the third number is a 2
Sherlock Holmes is always welcome here at myBulova.com!!
Part of collecting Bulova watches is the mystery and intrigue. The photo you added above tells me that the case is good. The shape and spacing was throwing me off, but seeing another I'm now comfortable to say it's probably original....so the search continues.....but thinking Sea King
I think that there is a distinct cut over from selfwinding to automatic, I can't recall the details as it was a discussion we had long ago.
