Bulova Date King 'PA' from 1966
Case is 10KT Yellow RGP, with a stainless back marked M5; snap on caseback with the code 2522 stamped inside; 33mm wide w/o crown.
Movement is a manual-wind 11ALD dated M6, with calendar feature and sub-second hand
Dial is White with golden markers and golden duaphine pitched hands. Great condition; no idea if it was ever re-finished.
I added a NOS brown Bulova strap, probably close to the original.
Model:
this model shows up in many ads going by the name of Date King and President ('A' in 64).
1964 Ad - Date King 'A' also President 'A' in '64
1965 Ad - Date King 'PA' alternate Ad
1966 Ad - Date King 'PA'
1966 Ad - President
May 1968 Ad - Date King 'PA'
Nov 1968 Ad - Date King 'NQ' with Silver dial
Not real sure what differentiated the Date King from the President. This watch has a crown with a 'B'
Nice work Ken, this one looks spanking new.
Regarding the ads (and thus the Date King - President question). I'd rule out the first ad as it shows Date King with a sweep as opposed to sub seconds. I'd rule out the last two as they're far enough out of the subject watch mfg date as to not be required to ID. Reviewing the four remaining ads I notice that only the President ad states stainless back, like your watch has, but that still leaves it 3 - 1 in favor of the Date King .
