This watch was given to me by my father which his father gave to him, before he went off into the service and 1964. Most likely bought in Decatur Illinois. I'm pretty sure it's a Date King of some sort it has luminescent dots and Illuminescent dials.

I agree with Date King. Not sure the variant for the stainless steel case.
Date King is a reasonable conclusion. It appears the dial may have been re-done/ restored in the past. Take note the lume dots are green in color and crisp, while the hands are creamy lume and show signs of age. "30 Jewels" text in block letters instead of cursive.
It appears to be the same as this one with the exception of noted face details.

What a fantastic watch to have (and wear). So much family history. I hope you're able to find family photos showing either your father or grand-father wearing the watch. That would be cool.

I agree with Date King, but the dial is close no cigar. The minute indices are indented little divots, cut into the dial. A small detail, but might suggest a variant.

Whilst it is hard to say for sure the minute indicators do look to match.
