A really stunning watch, thanks for sharing. I find this watch in the 1964 Linebook 156.

Your watch is technically a hand wind. Self wind, now referred to as Automatic, have a rotating weight in them that winds the watch with the movement of your wrist.

Saved me looking in the linebooks :-)
God match. What a gorgeous watch. 1963 Bulova Diadem "DD"
Bob, thank you so much for the ID! I love that it is kinetic. My grandmother never really wore it; it was too "fancy" for her. It is a nice heirloom for the family though. Thanks again for your help with this!
Sorry, I misread. It is a hand-wind.

Fancy it is :o) Fun fact: The price shown in the linebook entry is dealer cost - $224, with no suggested retail price listed. That means whomever bought this watch likely payed near twice that. In today's world due to inflation that $224 is equal to the buying power of $2,075. now. Pretty nice gift in the day, and an outstanding family treasure.

Honestly I'd be surprised if he paid much over cost, even new. He was a pretty good negotiator (ha ha) and possibly traded something else in to get it. He was very creative :)
Gorgeous watch and wonderful heirloom from your grandmother!
