Another MIA brought back to life. This came to me missing the case ring and dustcover. Crystal was cracked and the mainspring shot. Now it's whole again and runs like a charm. Caseback marked, Wrist Watch, Mil-W-3818A, SER. NO.A16825, STOCK NO. 6645-808-1407, BULOVA STOCK NO. 10 BNCH, CONT. NO. DA36-038ORD- 21501(M), US. Movement dated 1962, Viet Nam era issue? Navigator's Watch ? She's pretty slick with a NOS military issue olive drab canvas band, all original watch head, dial, hands and crystal. Note the orange lume. 1st time I've seen that. Enjoy all.
Great looking watch !! Nice job of resurection.

Thx John, I'm just lucky to have had a spare movement ring and dust cover. The MS, crystal and band were the easy parts. I have another 3818A I'm working on but it just winds and winds. Seems the MS barrel is not engaging the hour wheel. You wouldn't have one would you?
No my friend, I don't have much in military parts but I bet Mark would have one. I will look to see if there is an interchange for it and if there is I will see what I have. It could also be the mainspring or the barrel arbor.

Well, It's not the MS as I put a brand new NOS one in it. When I wind, the barrel does not engage the hour wheel. I'll figure it out sooner or later. I've sat on watches with part issues for years till I've found what I need. I won't give up on this other one either.
I have spoken with my mentor and he thinks he may have a movement I can take the entire barrel and mainspring out of and I will be visiting him tomorrow so I may have your problem fixed by tomorrow evening.
I'd say it's the mainspring. Winding and winding with no power and no end to the winding means the end of the spring has let go of the interior wall of the barrel. It's a minor tweak with pliers to get it to re-catch, but as I'm sure you know, it has to come out of there to do this.
Hello, I’m in the process of restoring one of these , could you please help me with the
crystal code. Also there is a rubber gasket that goes under the crystal, if you have
any information on these things I would appreciate it.
thanks .
