Men's watch with black waffle dial, Arabic numerals at 3,6,9 &12, and sword indices. Dial marked waterproof. M1 (1961) 17 jewel 11 AFC movement. I just managed to get the back open (used superglue and a socket). It looks like the stem may be there but there is no crown. Runs in dial down, stops in dial up. I suspect it's possibly a pivot. Casual research suggests to me that it is a Seabee 'B', although it has a different case than I've seen on others.
This watch should clean up nicely. As it is running dial down, hopefully it won't need a whole lot to bring it back. If I don't find any interested parties here, I'll probably put it up on eBay. I'm downsizing so, there will be others there, too. I've got 4 caliber 214s (all recently serviced), a couple Squadron Bs, as well as others. Let me know if interested. Thanks.
The white dial version was known as the Bulova Dolphin. I'm still searching for this black dial version.
Dial and hands (and 17J movement) are a match for the Bulova Senator "FW", but the case is different.
There's a listing on eBay for one in the same case identified as a Midshipman "CW".
I think you are close on the Midshipman. Black dial is a DW. 1960 Bulova Midshipman "DW" based on the 1961 Bulova Linebook BAWD#0147
