Good afternoon, I would appreciate assistance in identifying a ladies Bulova watch which I've inherited. I believe it to be a 1955 model, judging by the "L5" marking at top of the back case. I searched through the ladies models already listed on your site, and the closest I could find was a '55 Academy Award, although there are certainly stylistic differences - that's where your expert bulova sleuthing skills come into play, and I'd very much enjoy reading any input I can get! Not certain if it's a real gold watch or not - cannot find any markings indicating such. Thanks in advance!
1955 is to late to be an Academy Award model. Looks like a Stainless Steel back in your pics so the real story will be told from what is marked inside the case back. I'll bet it's rolled gold plate bezel, Perhaps a Dolly Madison variant but I'll have to dig deeper to say anything for sure.
Hi Rjj1208. You have a very nice example of the 1955 ladies "Anita" model Bulova. It has a 17 jewel movement and sold for $45 in 1955. Someone else will have to post a picture of the ad. I haven't this picture thing yet.
Edited: I have been using IE and I tried using Firefox and pictures worked perfectly. I wonder why that is?
