I am hoping to find a newspaper or magazine advertisement for this watch. Can anyone give me additional information about this watch?

Closest I can find at a quick glance is the Bulova Loma. 2 Diamonds, 17 Jewels, price seems to indicate 14K yellow gold case.

Look close but I'm not convinced it's the correct watch.

I had the diamonds tested and the jeweler confirmed they were diamond. They also confirmed it is solid gold. I can see other letters on the inside gears: GXW, ?MX, or BXW. I also see RS and AF, as well as 47.

Am I correct on the year? I see the 47 stamp.

My husband thinks it says "QXW". What do those mean on the gears?

1947 is correct, The QXW is in fact a BXW which is Bulova's US importer code for movements made in their Swiss factory.

The AF and RS are standard watch movement markings and stand for 'Advance/Fast' and 'Retard/Slow', which allows the watch movement to be regulated by speeding it up or slowing it down.
