I've searched the member watches that had this same movement and found no match for the dial. Some have very similar cases but that's not enough for identification.
The dial has a textured ring. I'm sure that will be significant in the identification. I have no clue what model this is.
I have only seen an actual year number like that a couple of times, very interesting! Now to find the model!
Sure looks like the Surfmaster "B" with possible original band (as seen on white dial), though the case lugs are hard to match for certain.
1955 linebook:

Edit: Surfmaster "A"
Surfmaster was my initial thought. Nice linebook match Ken. Although I believe the black dial is the "A" variant.
1954 Bulova Surfmaster "A"
Case lugs do look a little different from the linebook. Not sure if that's just the photograph.
Yes I looked at that one too but didn't realize the white dial was different to the black and passed it by. Nice match Ken.
1954 Bulova Surfmaster "A"
Neither of those dials match my dial. The white dial has 3-6-9-12 while mine only has 6-12. The black dial isn't numbered at all. I'm please to confirm the band is original Bulova regardless of the model identification.

No I see the 6-12 are just hard to see in the line book picture. Another first for me.
