1952 Academy Award "ZZ"
Yep...text of ad matches subject watch. Nice example of AA "ZZ"
Great AA "ZZ" you have there! :-D
faceted crystal is amazing that I have not yet seen
Academy Award ZZ
So I'm wondering considering the date codes L1/L2 and the variant 'ZZ' if this is the last of the AAs Bulova produced.
Canada Bulova still produced the AA in the 1960's.
Mans and ladies models in this 1968 Canadian ad.

There are also US ads as late as 1955 on site, Lisa has US ads up to 1960.
I just noticed....the band looks like the one in the ad!!! Great watch!
Interesting Canada kept cranking them out....they may not have been under any pressure to do otherwise...
Strange how you "neighbours" do business!
So the same company that made the AA in an agreement originally made for five years, still made new models in the sixties? I thought the Academy Award name was under an International trademark?
I know it's been thrashed out forever, but Lisa's findings on the Bulova/AA case was that the advertising was the only thing that was changed, not the model production. Maybe Bulova Canada made new agreements but had to tone down the advertising.
The only mention I have found about the original agreement in the newspapers is from November 1949, and is about the new line of AA's being made under licence for a five year initial contract.
