Bulova 1951 Director (tentatively determined via old advertisements & code chart for "L1" found on this website (thank you for those resources)). Original Band with markings on the back, "Topps Hong Kong 70" / "Stainless Steel Back" / "Stainless Springs"
Inherited this watch from my Grandfather via my mother's estate. Grandfather passed away in 1978, and this has been stored in jewelry box since that time, until I received the box in 2023. Currently stored in a zipped bag, and boxed. Did not try to open the back. I would assume the inner workings are original due to the lengthy storage of the piece.
The watch is WORKING and seems to be keeping ACCURATE time at least the several times I have checked it against a wall clock. I can hear ticking after it is wound and held up to my ear. The face appears to have age discolorations. The hands have a few small places where the overwrap has flaked. The band is in amazing condition, shiny with no obvious blemishes. Any blemish in the photo is actually a reflection of its surroundings and not the band.
I found nothing regarding the notations on the band. Thank you very much.
