One of the curtain bezel Academy Awards watches.  A plain white dial gets this guy the name of the Academy Award "R" model if I'm not mistaken.

Looks like a match to me and in nice condition.  The curtain bezel is neat.

Here is another ad that appears to show this case with a plain dial variation, noting different  number and sub-dial configuration.

 I think general consensus was it was definitely an AA, but likely an unknown variant; as opposed to an "R".

I agree with Bob, as in the record he cites I think we have to drop the "R" and go with:

1950 Bulova Academy Award, what at great example though, it's dandy!
