HMMM... Academy case, the '49 (7AA) movement (Applied Gold Numerals) and NOT an "X" dial?! Here we see YET ANOTHER variable, on the "for sale to the general public" theme???
I may well have an ad snipet of an "SS?" BUT, does ANYONE have an "applied gold numeral" ORIGINAL 1950, 51 or '52 dial, in this case... with a 7AA or AK???
Perhaps Shawn, Gary and/or someone else has had one+ of these???
Best :-) Scott

William,
It has the 'X' dial but it cant be seen in the pic above. - Very faint due to the amount of time spent without glass.
* Also note the applied Gilt Bulova Dial logo, not printed as some I have seen.
admin,
Possibly, there is an SS variant of the Acadamy Awards. Crystal shown fits like a glove, but admittidly looks a little out of place.
Q: With the X dial why would this style not be the 'X' variant?
In reply to William, It has the 'X' dial by FifthAvenueRes…
I believe that this style had a plain crystal, no bevelled sides etc. This size crystal fits many bulova models, some are flat some have a ptched centre, some are like this and some have a domed top, all are invariably the same dimensions, basically you can pick and choose which you think looks nicest with these.
Just a few GS numbers to throw out there cmx 326-35F (quartered with pointed centre) CMX326-35G (pitched across the middle width ways) CMX326-35 (domed across) CMX 325-36 (bevelled sides)

GJ,
I found a WC P10A 216 175 in the 'stash' that snapped in nicely but still stands off the face a little too much?
I know the Crystal catalogues show an 'X' variant glass with the same dimensions as similar Acadamy Award models, what are Your thoughts on this being the 'X' variant?
The Dial certainly fits the bill.

I agree with the assumption that the dial would make it a X varient. I have seen other "academy watches" with this cross dial too.
I have a good collection of mens academy's 3/4 different kinds of mens and two kinds of ladies, all mens rectangular ones seem to take a flat top crystal. I have not yet found a replacement that doesn't sit up some.
