1950 Bulova Academy Award/His Excellency??? Excellent running 21J 7AA movement date stamped 49, The now famous "X" dial that keeps showing up on many models in good original condition with some spotting along the edges. 10K Gold Filled bezel and back dated L0, Burgandy Leather padded strap. I might go to my grave trying to figure out the mystery on these AA X dials! 3-29-2011 Looks like one of the mysteries is solved! The grave is looking further away! Now to solve the other AA mysteries :-) Thanks to Jerin & Stephen for the ad's

Good One, Greg!
Hopefully all my ranting about these "X"cellent 21J watches will get a collector (with a mind for detail, and a collection of vintage ads, and perhaps even a jeweller's catalog or two, to chime in... while some of us are still drawing breath?! :-) And good contribution with the '59 Princeton A/B! I see my "apprentice" was worth mentoring... (Jerin, the super ad hound sleuther...) Good thing I still have all the best crystal catalogs! (Wink...)
Cheers :-) Scott

Greg, Yah... that's WHY I mentored," him... then he proceeded to find all the remaining (?) department store ads, OFF eBay! That's also WHY I put up another 20 IDs the last week... and left the "ladies" to whomever wishes to decipher the ads/snippets I posted??? LOL... But again, unless one has 20+ crystal catalogs (and the right ones!) 1000+/- crystals, a slew of vintage display ads and darn good "sleuthing skills..." good luck besting the 100+ I have ID'd?! :-) LOL...

P.S. This is the Academy Award "N" model, by the way... (THANKS Stephen, for IDing this puppy!) See also: http://www.mybulova.com/watches/1950-academy-award-n-707
