Hello,
I was super pleased to pick up this watch to add to my collection. I have had my eye out for an Academy Award watch. Was planning on getting a model with a gold curtain dial but when this one popped up I decided to get it and will look for one of the others later. I believe this is an Academy Award "J". It is in very nice shape and is working. The bracelet is original but small so I may put a cord band on it which will technically make it a "H" but for now it will remain a "J" and I would keep the original band of course. It has a L0 date stamp on both the case and the movement. It is 10KGF and has a 21 jewel movement.
Many thanks to Stephen for creating this site and to all the panel members for sharing so much of your time with all of us. If it had not been for an ad Plainsmen added I might not have recognized this watch. I am very glad I did because I just love it. I even found an old commercial on YouTube that showcased this watch for Mother's Day in 1951.
Thanks all!
Kathy

Looks to have the original band as well. Having these adverts AND the Youtube video always makes a watch all the more special for me, as you get to experience how it was advertised back in the day.
I love a watch with an original clean dial. This one certainly has that.
1950 Bulova Academy Award 'J'.
I gather the original box is next on your shopping list.
