There are actually 3 symbols, omega, shield and an asterisk. I have no idea what model it is. I cannot find one with a black face around this age. Any help would be appreciated.
That's a real beauty! The first picture threw me, I thought, "whoa, where are the lugs?" lol.
I think the case is 1940, the movement's final stamp is for 1941. Not seen an ad for a dial with only indices/no numbers, possibly a redial but I would guess that this is original colour, and the case looks the same as for the Chesterfield/Douglas p.w. of the late thirties-early forties.
Almost military looking, and in great shape too.
Unknown p/w model.
Fantastic watch Sgt. Thanks for sharing it with us. I am inclined to agree with bobbee on the dates and possibility of a Chesterfield or Douglas. The dial does look almost military.
So was a black dial an option? I haven't seen any ads with options listed of any kind.
Very nice pocket watch. Unknown for me. It's unknown what model had a black dial variant or was a model in its own right. The 21J movement will be the determining factor I believe.
In keeping with other PWs I'm actually inclined to ID as a generic pocket watch for now.
The dial is very distinct so we should be able to ID one day.
I did find this one on ebay that looks the same except for the color. I thought it might help identify mine.

That's a nice one too!
Strange, a new model turns up and there are not only two, but variants?
Welcome Sarge to myBulova - this is a great looking pocket watch. I can't remember a watch with three date codes, is it possible to get a close up on that? I agree with Bob that we should probably date this one 1941. Between the case s/n and the asterisk it makes sense that it is. I like the curve of the case down to the engraving, very distinctive.
Unknown for now.
Gorgeous train bridges on this movement.
Modern looking dial, possibly a re-dial?
Black always warrants a second look. If the paint is too perfect, it is often a sign that the dial has been re-done, and black is the most common colour, it is easier to do than a silver or butler finish.
