I picked this one up just because I think the dial is pretty cool. I know they made these black/gray dials but haven't seen one on a ladies model like this. Looked through the ads and didn't find anything. The box it came in reads Lady Bulova on the outer box but I don't know for sure it is the original box. Love to hear what you all think it might be. Thanks.

I agree with you on that, seems to fit perfectly. Yes seems like it is looking like an Unknown. Thanks for looking : )
This is a really interesting watch, but I can't find anything quite like it in adverts.
The sweep seconds points to a medical usage, as it is a hair too early to be a Military type.
Unknown for now.
I think this ad confirms that there was a line of nurse's watches in this case. This ad is from 1939.

I think I have this Unknown nailed down. This appears to be a variant of the 1939 Bulova Curie based on this ad from this new 1939 RN Magazine I found. This ad shows this case with a center second hand. This dial configuaration is listed as a "A" varaint. Everything seems to match but the dial which I suspect is a "blacked our" variant.

Wow, very cool Jim, great ad find!!! I agree! With these two examples of 1939 mens watches having this type of dial and still having the same model name as the regular dial my vote is for Curie.
