All pictures are made by The Interstellar Seller. I think (and I hope) that it is a 1936 Bulova President without engravings. The curvex style case is approx 46mm long.
The 21J movement certainly puts it in as a President. Still looking for an ad with the black dial or mention of a black dial.
Its a very good looking watch with that color combination (gold, black and brown)

Thank you! The dial is a tricky one and I'm not sure it's original. The markers are painted.

I saw a very similar black dial on a 1937 Bulova President (that has engravings on both sides) on Watchophilia collections.
I agree Stephen, a beautiful combination.
President, just a refinished dial that lifts it out of the norm.
Great watch.

Thank you bobbee! This beauty is still in transit, I can hardly wait to get it...
Hi Tulora, welcome to myBulova, it's a beautiful watch you have here. For me this one presents a slight dilemma. I'm inclined to agree with the President ID also, based on the Jewel count. If it were 17j I think it would be a Treasurer. The President case style changed dramatically in 1936 and the engraving, or in this example the absence of it has been a bit of a challenge for us.

Thanks for your reply Geoff Baker!
I thought we sorted it?
Anyway, this ad snippet is from a full 1936 advert in the newspaper DB.

Size matters too, as well as the jewel count. The Treasurer is around five mm. shorter than the President.
The President is the longest case of the mid-late thirties Bulovas, and when dimensions are given, can't really be confused with any other model.
I agree the longer one is the President. Nice black redial (probably).
