Hi all
I received this one today. I think it may be a 153. The watch is beautifully engraved on the bezel front and sides also on the back of the case. The case is hinged and is marked inside Bulova Quality Filled, and has the number 4021899 stamped. there is no gold carat mark next to the word filled ? .The movement is a 16jewelled 10A. and has the number 140549 There is also a date mark which I think looks like an asterisk But it is partially obscured . I looked at it through the microscope and the best I could determine it looked like an asterisk mark. The crown is a sapphire tipped
The movement does not work and is missing the ratchet wheel and I think it needs new barrel arbor as the ratchet wheel retaining screw hole seems to have the remains of a broken screw in it. But I think if I can sort the parts it would be worth bringing this lovely little watch back to life again
The dial and case are in excellent condition and it still seems to have its original. I have found another similar example of this watch in the db.
I would appreciate any members comments .
Yea shape similar to the three 158's we have in watch database and various 158 ads. All of those three watches are American Standard cases. Fifth's example has same bezel engraving as subject watch.
Could be a 157 (I know- I'm guessing based on odd/even number patterns for other similar model numbering for fill vs solid gold in this time period, but it's a good guess. A confirming ad would make it a better guess).
